A Different Kind of Family Holiday in Bali
A few places to explore, a day with nothing booked, and an evening back by the sea. Planning a family stay on the Tabanan coast.
Before a family trip to Bali, the list usually gets quite long. A temple visit. A trip to the rice terraces. Somewhere new for lunch. Then there are all the places saved on someone's phone.
It is easy to keep adding things until almost every day is spoken for.
Staying on the Tabanan coast gives you a reason to look at that list again. If the family is coming to Pasut, it makes sense to leave some time for the place you have chosen to stay.
Choosing this part of Bali
Pasut Beach is in Tabanan, on Bali's west coast. At Villa Lux Bali, the garden leads directly onto its black-sand shore. The villa has four ensuite bedrooms for up to eight guests, two living rooms, a full kitchen and a private 20-metre pool. The whole property is reserved for your group.
That setting is part of the decision. Think about how much of the holiday you want to spend at the villa and where you would like to go from there.
If most of your saved places are in another part of Bali, look at the journeys before booking. A coastal stay in Pasut works best when the coast itself is something the family wants to enjoy.
One outing can be enough
There is plenty to explore around Tabanan, but you can choose a few places and give each one enough time.
For a visit to Jatiluwih's rice terraces, allow time for the drive as well as the walk. From the Pasut Beach area, our planning estimate is around 1–1.5 hours by car each way, depending on the route and traffic. Check the current journey with your driver before setting off.
You might make that the main outing for the day, with lunch along the way and the afternoon left open. The next morning can start without another early departure.
Soka is another option to look at when planning a drive along the coast. Choose the outing that interests your family, then arrange the return journey too.
Keep a day with nothing booked
When planning a family holiday in Bali, it is easy to treat a day at the accommodation as a day you still need to fill.
Try leaving one open. Pack the books, cards or small games you actually use at home. Make room in the luggage for the things that help you enjoy an afternoon together.
At Villa Lux, the pool, garden and shared living areas give that day somewhere to happen. You can spend time outside, sit down for a game or take a break in your own room. Have a look through the villa photographs with the family and see which spaces you can picture yourselves using.
There is no need to decide all of this in advance. Having a day free gives you a choice once you are there.
Make room for the evening
Before adding one more stop to a day out, think about when you would like to be back.
On clear evenings, you can watch the sunset over the sea from Villa Lux or head out for a walk on Pasut Beach. Leave enough time to put the bags down, change and find a place to sit before the light goes.
Afterwards, there is dinner to think about. Plan where you would like to eat and how you will get there, or confirm any arrangements for meals at the villa before your stay. The kitchen is available, but it is still worth asking what is included and what needs to be organised separately.
A few details before you arrive
The practical questions are easier to settle while you are planning. Let the villa team know who is coming, the children's ages and any room requirements. Ask about bed arrangements, stairs and pool-safety provisions, along with any equipment your family needs. Two bedrooms are downstairs and two are upstairs.
Arrange your arrival transport and check what you will need for days out. With those details covered, you can leave more of the holiday undecided.
