Should We Book One Villa or Separate Hotel Rooms?

One place to gather or a few rooms of your own? A few things to think about when planning a Bali holiday with family or friends.

The holiday dates are almost settled. Then someone sends a hotel link to the group chat, and someone else suggests a villa. Soon there are screenshots, room prices and questions about who is staying with whom.

For a family or a group of friends travelling to Bali, both can work. A private villa gives you a place to spend time together, with bedrooms to return to when you want some privacy. Separate hotel rooms may suit a group that prefers more independence and the facilities of a particular hotel.

Before comparing the photos, it helps to think about how you want the days to go.

Where shall we meet?

With separate rooms, a simple question comes up quite often: where is everyone?

Someone is getting ready. Someone has gone for coffee. You message the group to decide where to meet before heading out. That might be perfectly fine, especially if everyone has their own plans.

In a villa, the living room or dining table can become the meeting place. One person reads while the others talk about dinner. You can sit down together without needing to book a table or fit everyone into a bedroom.

If you are looking for a family villa in Bali, those shared spaces deserve as much attention as the bedrooms. Look at the seating, the dining area and how the rooms connect. Can you picture your own group using them?

A bedroom of your own

Staying together still needs to leave room for different habits. Some people get up early. Others want a slow morning or an afternoon to themselves.

Separate bedrooms and enough bathrooms can make sharing a villa much easier. Check the actual bed arrangements, too. A room that works for a couple may not suit two friends who want separate beds.

For families with young children, ask about the layout, stairs and pool arrangements before booking. If you need a cot, high chair or connecting rooms, confirm those details with the property directly. A photograph will only answer some of your questions.

Compare the cost of the whole stay

A villa price and a hotel room price are easy to misread side by side. One may cover the whole property; the other may be for just one of several rooms your group needs.

Use the same dates and number of guests for both. Then check taxes, other charges, meals and transport. Ask what is included and what you would need to arrange separately.

A villa is not always the cheaper option. The useful comparison is the total cost for your group, alongside what you will actually use during the holiday.

Think about the location as well

The accommodation is only part of the decision. Would everyone like to walk out to restaurants and shops? Or are you planning to spend more time at the property, with a few trips out?

A villa on the Tabanan coast makes more sense when the group likes that coastal setting and is happy to plan transport for outings. If most of your plans are somewhere else in Bali, consider the journeys before choosing your base.

It is worth having that conversation while everyone is still sending links.

Staying together at Villa Lux Bali

Villa Lux Bali on Pasut Beach has four bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, and space for up to eight guests. The whole villa is for your group. There are two living rooms, a full kitchen and a private 20-metre pool, with direct access to the beach.

Two bedrooms are downstairs and two are upstairs. You can look through the villa photographs to get a feel for the shared spaces and layout.

For families and friends who want to spend a good part of their holiday together, that is the appeal: somewhere to gather in the morning, return to after a day out, and sit together before everyone heads to bed.

If that sounds like your kind of stay, tell us your dates and who is coming. Let us know any room or family requirements as well, so you can check whether the villa suits your group before booking.
