Coconut palms and evening light over the black sand and sea at Pasut Beach, Bali

If you are looking for a quiet sunset in Bali, leave a little space in your afternoon. It is easier to enjoy the coast when you have time to arrive, take a walk and find somewhere to sit.

At Pasut Beach in Tabanan, black sand and coconut palms frame the sea. For guests staying at Villa Lux Bali, the shore is just beyond the garden. Watching the sunset can be part of an evening at the villa, without planning a separate outing.

Where is Pasut Beach?

Pasut Beach is in Tibubiu, on Bali's west coast in Tabanan. If you have been looking at places to watch the sunset in Bali and have not come across Pasut before, it is worth getting to know this stretch of coast.

The sand here is dark, with coconut trees along the shore. In our photograph above, evening light catches the wet sand, while clouds sit low over the sea. It gives you a sense of the view, though the colours and conditions will be different on the day you visit.

If you are still deciding where to base your holiday, our guide to where to stay in Tabanan looks at the coast and countryside in more detail.

Give yourself time before sunset

Try to arrive with enough daylight to get your bearings. Check the sunset time for your travel date, then allow around 45 minutes to an hour beforehand for a walk or a seat by the coast. That is time to spend there, in addition to your journey.

A little extra time also takes the pressure off the weather. On clear evenings, you can watch the sun setting towards the sea. Cloud may hide it on other days, or leave just a narrow band of light near the horizon. There is no guarantee of a bright orange sky.

You might take a few photographs, then put your phone away for a while. If you are staying nearby, there is no need to leave as soon as the sun disappears. Stay a little longer and watch the last light over the water.

A relaxed evening on a shared beach

Pasut is a public beach with everyday life around it. People come for an evening walk, to take photographs or to play football. Sunset can draw more visitors, and motorbikes and ATVs also use parts of the sand, as described in Bali Untold's beach guide.

Allow for that when imagining a quiet evening here. The beach will not always be empty or silent. Give other people room, watch for passing vehicles and enjoy the sunset from the shore.

If you are visiting from another part of Bali, arrange your return journey before you arrive. Check the route from your own starting point and leave some room for traffic. It is also worth deciding where you will eat afterwards, so you can settle in without making plans on your phone as the light changes.

Watching the evening from Villa Lux Bali

At Villa Lux Bali, the beachfront garden gives you a place to sit facing the ocean. On clear evenings, you can enjoy the sunset from the garden, or walk out onto Pasut Beach.

The garden and 20-metre pool are private to your group. The beach beyond them remains public. You can choose between spending time on the shore and staying within the villa grounds, with your own place to come back to.

With four bedrooms for up to eight guests, the villa gives families and friends room to spend the evening together. Some may want to walk; others may prefer to pull up a chair. You do not have to agree on much more than when to meet back in the garden.

If this sounds like the kind of evening you would enjoy, ask us about your dates. Tell us how many people are travelling and we can help you plan your stay at Villa Lux Bali.
